X O N G our -divided State
j Hung in the Ballance of a doubtful Fate,
When one bright Nymph the gath’ring Cloads dispel!'d.And all the Griefs of Albion heal d :
Her the united Land obey’dNo more to Jealousy inclin’d,
Nor learning Pow’r with so much Virtue join’d.
She knew her Task, and nicely understoodTo what Intention Kings are made ;
Not for the own, but for the People’s Good,
’Twas that prevailing Argument a!«meDetermin’d her to fill the vacant Throne :
And yet with Sadness she beheldA Crown devolving on her Head,
By the Excesses of a Prince misted,
When by her Royal Birth compell’d,
To what her God, and what her Country claim’d,
Tho’ by a servile Faction blam’d,
How graceful were the ’sears she ihed 1II.
When waiting only for a Wind,
Against our Isle the Pow’r of France was arm’d ;
Her ruling Arts in the true Lustre sttin’d,
The. Winds themselves were by her Influence chann’d j
’Twas her Authority and Care supply’d
