How Hair may grow again.

B Ut for those that would have Hair grow where it should, these Remedies willdoit: sometimes womens temples use to be deformed for want of Hair. Ishall teach you ho.v

Hair falling off before old age % may be heldfas.

And if any Hair hath fallen off, to make it grow again, torrifie Gith upon theCoals ; when it is torrified, powder it, sift it, and mingle it with water; and anoyncyour Head. The Ancients made their Hair grow again with these Remedies: withthe Ash. s ok a Land-Hcdgehog, or of burnt Bees or Flies, or the Powder of themdiied; also with Mans Dunii burnt, and anoynted on with Honey , to which theyadded well the Ashes of Small-nuts, Wall-nuts,Chd-nuts,ahd other Bean like sub-stances : for by ah these mingled together,or by them single , Hair will be made togrow. To make the Hairs grow softer .

JuguHtu was wont to burn his Legs with a burning Nut, that the Hair might growsoher. But

That Hair may grow longer and quickly ,

Bruise Marsh-Mallow Roots with Hogs-grease, and let them boyl long in Wines,then add Cummin-Seed well bruised, Mastick, and yelks of Eggs well boyled : first,mingle them a little, and then boyl them: strain all through a Linen-clouc, and letit stand and fettle; then take the fat that swims on the top,and anoynt the Head,firstwasht. But to make them grow quickly, take Barley-Bread with Salt and BearsGrease: bum the Bread ; and with such a mixture anoynt the place. Some befmeeta glazed Pot with the fat of a Horses Neck, and they boyl a River-Eel that is fat, andcut into pieces m it,tili it dissolve into Oyl,and they anoynt the part with it.

To take away Sores and Worms that fpo'tl the Hair

T Here is a certain plagu" of the Hair that befals them, and breaks, cuts, andtakes the Hair quite f ft from the Head. I will add the Remedies presently,whereby to take them away. It is healthful, in these Diseases, to apply bitter thingsto kill these Worms.ciiled Tiners or Syrens : take the Flowers of Myrtle-Trces,Brorm-clary-boyl them in Vinegar, till the Vinegar be consumed, and then rub theend' of th Hair continually with it. Alsogrinde hitter Lupines into fine Meahboylthem in Vinegar, and then tub the Hairs between your hands ; for this will killthese Sirens, and dtive them away. But I used very hot Bread, newly taken forth ofthe Oven, cut in the middle, and putting the Hair between them till they growcoid. Chap.
