GRAVELLY LOAMS.
These soils are benefited by the applicationof marl, whether argillaceous or calcareous f,for reasons which I suppose are now apparent:if the gravel be calcareous, clay may be em-ployed t. A mixture of effete lime and clayshould answer in all cases.
TILL AND VITRIOLIC SOILS.
These necessarily require the calcareous in-gredient to neutralise their peccant acid: hencechalk, limestone-gravel, lime and calcareousmarl, are most advantageously applied to them.
