Sash-Sticking and Plowing Machine.

With Boring Attachment.

This is a very efficient machine for sticking sash-stiles, and plowing and boringfor the sasli-cord at the same time, one operator doing the work that heretofore hasrequired two machines and two operators to accomplish successfully. It has a sub-stantial frame made long to give good length of belts. The cutter-spindles are of re-lined cast steel, lead-ground, and run in long self-oiling bearings, which are heavilylined with the best lining metal attainable.

The plowing and boring attachment consists of a supplemental table with ver-tical boring spindle and horizontal grooving head and arbor, placed at the feedingend of the machine. The table has a vertical adjustment, is fitted with movablestops for gauging the length of the groove and position of the hole for the knot in theend of the cord.

The stile is first moved over the grooving saw, cutting the groove to the properlength, and then the boring is accomplished by means of a foot treadle, raising theboring bit into the stile to the proper depth. The stile is then passed under the feed-roll and horizontal cutter-head and properly dressed. As the plowing and boringof one stile is done while another is passing through the sticking machine there isreally no expense whatever attending the plowing and boring.

It has two geared feed-rolls of good size, producing a strong feed; as well ascone pulleys for different speeds of feed. Also our combined bonnet and pressure-barwhich can be swung entirely out of the way for ready access to the sticking head forpurposes of adjustment. The machine can be used for sticking door-rails, blinds, etc.,by having suitable heads and cutters. A boy can operate the machine with ease.

The tight and loose pulleys are 8" x 4", and should make 750 revolutions.
