Patent Blind-Slat Tenoning Machine.

With Adjustable Disc-Holders.

This machine is one of the simplest machines in use for making cylin-drical tenons on blind slats. It is adapted to different lengths and widths ofslats, cutting the shoulder and rounding the tenon upon both ends simultane-ously and at one operation in the most rapid and perfect manner. Two adjust-able arbors, running in connected gateways, are mounted on the top of the frame, each carrying a set of circular saws for cutting the slat off to the proper length, forming the shoulder and rounding the tenon.

Attached to the gateways upon the inner side of the saws are two revolv-ing discs, slotted through their diameters to receive the slats and hold them tothe saws during the operation of cutting. The rotation of the slat bi'ings thesaws into contact at each of its extremities, causing them to cut towards thecenter of the slat, and making a perfectly smooth cylindrical tenon.

As the cut is always from the periphery to the center no tearing or splin-tering is possible. It is quickly changed to work long or short slats, and thesize of the tenon can be varied to suit different widths and sizes. The revolv-ing discs, guides, and arbor frames are securely held in any desired position bya simple locking device without possibility of disarrangement.

The tight and loose pulleys are (i"x 3", and should make 600 revolutions.
