Hand-Feed Rod Machine.

With Removable Heads.

This machine is for turning' rods, dowels, stretchers, etc. It has a solid frame, cast with connected hearings, a hollow arbor, and driving pulley. The journalsare large and lead-ground; the heads are fitted to the end of the arbor and heldby a set-screw, and can be removed in one minutes time. The cutters are ar-ranged so as to feed the rod through the machine. There is a revolving guide,or work-holder, before the head, with different size spaces to hold and preventthe rod from turning.

The material is first ripped to exact widths and then presented to the ma-chine. It turns smoothly and fast. Three sizes are made, and each with properchuck-heads will turn three sizes: No. 1, for and %" rods; No. 2, for

and 1" rods; No. 3, for 1", 1 %", and 114" rods. But one size chuck is sent with amachine.

The pulley on the arbor is 314" x 3", and should make 3,000 revolutions.

Concentric Slide

With Revolving Guide-Holder.

This attachment is intended to be used with the turning lathe for making-rake, fork, hoe, and broom-liandles, jockey poles, etc. It runs on an iron way, secured upon the shears of the lathe.

The piece to be turned is placed through the disk between the centres ofthe lathe and finished to its correct form by a knife on a swinging arm, whichpasses over a pattern fastened to the shears in front, reducing it to shape, theknife on the opposite side completing the finishing and smoothing. The knifeattached to the slide is adjustable for different rates of speed. Its peculiar shapegives it an automatic feed.

Two sizes are made: No. 1, to turn from )4" to 2"; No. 2, from 1" to 8".They can be fitted up at small expense, are easily kept in repair, and will turnfrom 800 to 1,500 pieces per day.
