Power-Feed Rod-Turning Machine.

With Feeding-in and Feeding-out Rolls.

This machine will turn all kinds of round rods, chair-stretchers, etc. It ismade with the feed-works, arbor, and turning 1 chucks mounted upon the top ofa substantial column with broad floor-base, and supplied with chucks to turnthree sizes of rods at a speed of from 15' to 25' per minute.

The arbor is large diameter, with wide pulley, and runs in bearings cast tothe column. The chuck-heads are secured In the end of the arbor, and canbe quickly changed from one size to another.

It has both feeding-in and feeding-out rolls strongly geared; the former arehung in an adjustable frame, which can be turned out of the way when accessto the chucks is desired for changing sizes or sharpening the cutters. Thefeeding-in rolls are shaped to receive the square stick, while the feeding-out rollsare made to suit the finished rod and feed it from the machine. The pressureupon the upper rolls is adjustable and supplied by springs.

The countershaft and pulleys are at the base of the machine, the maindriving pulley in the center, with the tight and loose pulleys upon the side,and are 9"x3%", and should make 750 revolutions.
