ftrlbuting the nourisoing Juice, are so near contracted, and lie so dose toge-ther, that when once they are relaxed by fresh and unctuous Nourifhmenr, they extend every way in all extensive Parts, until in a sooft time the wholeCreature is, as it were, created anew, having got new Fleso upon old Bones. And the neceslity of extream Extension make* all thosc Parts, that are, as hasbeen sind, for the admission of Nourisoment, so thin and fine, that it willmake the lean Beast, put into a rieh Pasture, eat young and tender: Where-as one of the fame Age, that never was very poor, fed in the sätne Pasturesoall eat hard and tough.

Z. It has been obscrved, that Corpulent Persons, in some Diseascs that feizeon them do fall away to wonder, not only in the Waste, but in the Arms,Legs.and Thighs; and the very Calves oftheLegs have been obfcrv’d so flac-cid and loose, that one might wrap the Skin about the Bones. The reasonwhereof, according to the Opinion delivered, may be easily rendred tobe, Agreat consumption of the stock of Liquors, that in Health kept the Veffelsturgid ; which Veffels I fupposc to make up thosc Mufcles. But when thePores areobstructed, that the Nourisoment ishindred (which then also usesto be but sparingly administredj and Sweats, either spontaneous, or forcedare large, there must needs be a great expence of thole Liquors, the sopplybeing but inconsiderable: Which cannot but contract all thefe Ducts of allsorts nearer together, and make them much leß in themsclves, meerly fromExhaustion : Or, if there soould be no Sweats, the infernal Heat fpends theSpirits, and dries up the Liquors; the conßquence whereof may reasonablybe presum’d to be this flaccidity of Parts, and great and sodden Changemade in them; not that there is need of any Parenchyma to 611 up these Muf-chs, considering what bath been faid.
