Foot long, thereubout 5 Jojnts make an Incrq whereas the latter Joynts here are above anIrch long ; but in (orne 1 have taker. out ot Dogs, there were 30 or 40,sometimes above 60 AnnuH, which towards the Head did make up but thelength of an Inch ; whereas towards the Tail, 6 or 7 Joynts did equal thatmea/üre, and sometimes 3; so thatgradually the Joynts feem toincrcafe, bothin Length and Widentfs, as they approach the Tad. But withall it mustbeobserv’d, that according to the Coi rugation or Extenfion of these Joynts,theil- Dimcnsions will be altcred, which is most apparent in them when alive;That likewife there is a great difference of these Joynts in the various Spe-cies of this Worm, (fori think there are more sorts than one.) And asto theDißerences of them, there are these I have taken notice of, 1. These Juttings , or Lips of theUpper “joynts over the Lower, in Ibme wereplain, in others Crenared, inothers, the great protuberatings at the Side renderd the whole TVorm Serra-ted. 4. LHually the fame Joynt is much of a bignesi throughout; but theUpper Ext 1 eam something lester than the Lower. But in one I took outof a Dog, I observ’d that in some of the last Joynts towards the Tail , the up-per part ot the Joynt, by which ‘twas faflcn’d to the fore-going Joynt, wasvery flender, in the middle broad, and towards the other Extream grewTaper again. But in anotherl took out of the fame Dog, I could not ob-servethe fäme thing; as neither did I in a 30, I took cutes anotherDog,M hich was about 2 Yards long; whereas these were each 1 Foot or 15 Footlong. 4. This JVorm lies Convoluted in several places; and it is sometimesas fing as all the Guts, and sometimes vatlly cxceeds that length. 0 'ausBornchius teils us, that a Patient of his, in a Year’s lime, has voidcd 800 Footot this fort ot Wertn , but in several pieces, and that hitherco he lias not metwitb the Head. But to be at any certainty in this particular, I think isvery difticult : For when it comes to any considerable length, by lyingin seve al Cluster?, or Convolutions, in the Intestines, the Descent of theYatces, tspecially bring quickn’d by a Purge, will be apt to break part off;wluch yet still w ill live, and grow till quite carried out of the Bcdy.
