The Right Tefiicle , or Ovarium, which ordinarily does not exceed the bignefs of a Pidgeon’s Egg, was here3 Inches longand z ofbreadth ; and in the Inferior part there was found anEgg, hanging by its Ligament, out of the Tuba Fallopiana, about the big—nels of the Yolk of a comraon Hen’s Egg ; which for Experiment I caufedto be Boiled, and it Harden’d as an ordinary Egg. The Right Kidneywent up as far as the last of theTrue Ribs, and deseended below the Umbt-lical Region ; the Pelvis was Dilated about 3 Inches in Breadth, and 7 inLength, The greatest part of theWater had runout in the Operation.

The Ltengs were of a Livid Colour, as in all Cbronical Dißales ; and onthe Right-side were adherent to the Membrane Pleura-, and on the Left-iide was an adherence of the Inferior Lobe to the Diaphragm. From what has been said, it appears impolhble that this Patient couldhave rccover’d tho’ the Operation had not been perform’d; only this is tobe rcmark’d, that where the Drcpfj isofa long Continuance, and the Perlonsrauch Debilitated, and of Age, in that Cafe the Operation ought not to beperform’d, for gcnerally the Viscera are Corrupted. Eut when :you find itconvenient to perform this Operation, Extract the Water by Degrees, and notall at once, elfe you endanger the Person ; for fcarce One efeapes of a Hun-dred that is done otherwise.
