and hardncd beyond the hardnefs of a Schirrhus. The Längs were grown tothc Breast round about, almost irreparable, füll of Purulent Ulccis, but moreelpeci lly thc Lest Si<!e, obitructcd and fill’d with much Gravel and finaliStones yea, wholc picccs of the Längs, efpccially the Extremities, aboutthe thicknels of a Finger and more, were Hardned into a Stmy Matter.

After throwingup the Sternui of a Woman, I found the Lobes £tones/«mimof the Längs extreme!/ Turgid, and its Velieles impleat with a GrumousBlood; Thcir mvesting Membrane in the upper part adhcred firmly to the >^109. f. nx~P/eara; the Right Ventrick of the Heart was fill’d with a large quantity ofCoagulated Blood, but the Lest scem’d Exfanguious; and i obfirv’d a Stag-nation, and great Extravafation of Blood upon the Right Stic of the Thura.

Beneath thc DiapFagm I found the Ventrick an d In'tstmes much infkm’d •

The Omentum fa r and large ; Th e Spleen, to Admiration, soaugmented inBulk, that I fuppofe it weighed not lefs than 2 or 3 Physical Pounds : Uponeutting thr- ugh its Body, there was discharg’d several Ounces of a very Fce-tid and Putriücd Blood. The Lsver also was much langer than ufüal, butits Parenchyma firm and found.

The Vejua Eilaria seern’d still of Bile: but more curiously Examining ofit, I found a Stonc vtry beautifully crusted over with CbrystaltZjed Salts of va-rious Figun s, Conical, Cubical, Pyramidal, &c. The one half of it layimmerst in Eile , whose Quantity was inconsiderable : for indeed this LapFdious Concretion took up tfie whole Cavity of the Bladder, and weighed, Jm-mediately afttr it was taken from its Recepta cle, 2 Dr. 15 Gr.

Wc discovered in one of the Kidneys a large Sibsofs, and discharged »great quantity of Wbeyish Matter. • I .

LXXVII 1 . An. 1590. A Lady, who had been drinking the Waters at s™ « a™,*;.Muffet- Wells, in Annandale in Scotland , by Advice of her Phyftcians, for a >bt Stotr ‘ ach >contirual Vomiting, and the Doler Nephriticus, dy’d there in a Fit of Vomit- Ä otrlbying. Upon Dissecting the Stomach, I found a Stone of the bignefs and form as Ur ' Wl!l ' cierk *in the Figure. The Corner a, was almost fixUin the Pylorus, so that the Pasfage from th e Stomach to thd Inteflims , was near quite fhutiip. The Sub- Ä ’ 4 *

stance of this Stone is a little Spungy, weighing about 8£ Dr. In the LestKidney, I found also a Stone of the fame Substance, weighing about 5 Dr.and in the Gall-Bladder 1 found several Stones, weighing z Drams.

I am apt to believe, that scme Extraneous Body gave Online to that inthe Stomach, as it frequently happens even in those extractfd from thc Ve-sica Urinaria: Thus an Iron Tag, a Leaden Buller, & c . have been foundthe Kernels of several Stones. And that several Extraneous Bodies are oft-times found in the Stomach, being fwallow’d over, either willfully, or byaccident, we have the Authority of Sennertus and others. And one Mr. Ca-meron, who Tome Years ago in a Frolick swallow'd Half a Crown, is alive'*"' c ^ Xv ~to this Day, and finds no great Inconvenience thereby.

These Stones, Generated in the Stomach, exc'tte horrid Pain?, but thereare fcaree any clear Signs by whkh iJaey. can be distinguilhed from others,
