VI. Having some Months sincc entertain’d a Suspicion, that the Causis of .s^MotiomofTtdes at Sea do also continually Exert their Power in other places, though BiltbT’ "an™'the Effects thereof may not be so fensibly pcrceived on the Solid as the
Fluid parts of this Terraqueous Globe ; I took this Method to examine it.
First, Idividedthe into four Senaries of Hours : The Firfi con- ,ural Dj r- h

the <5 Hours following; and so the zd, and 41h, contain'd the tworemain-

and Deatbs, in our own Kind, as also of other Species of Animals, whe-
ther they feil out indifferently in any of these 4 Senaries: And 1 found none
that were Born or Dfd a NaturalDeath in the First and yl Senaries, which
I take liberty to call first and second Ttdes , but every one either in the second
or 4 -tb Senaries, which I call first and 2 d Ebbs. I then proceeded tomake Ob-
servations in the Motions of Dsfeafes, which I could the heiter do, because I
had some in my Family Visited with Agues; Here I found that the Tumult
of the Fifa generally lafled all the Tsdmg Time, and then went off in gentlc
kindly Sweats in the Ebbs . I went on then to take notice of the Sex res non
naturales, and Alterations of the Weathtr , and such Accounts as I could meet
with of Earthquakes- and sundry other things: And I have yet met nothing
to Kinder me froin laying down this as a Maxim, That Motion, Vigour,
Abiion, Strength, &c. appear most and do best in the Ttding Senaries ; andthat Rest, Relaxation, Decay , Distblittion belongto the Ebbing Senaries.
