'Jfdinary, having the Conduct of the Works that are making upon the Ri- cient se pulcherJof Eftr ^ below the Village of Paßj, do Certify that upon the Petition°t Meillre Robert Prevost of Cochcrel, Knight andLord et the Mannor of m. Justeii.llpper and Lower Cpcherel , We having with us several Witnefles, did ” l3; ' p 'to the said Town, and from thence to a Piece of Land calfd leiH&utherges. Where being come, the täid Lord os the Mannor of Coebe•r y did JRemonstrate unto us, that haying Occasion for a confiderable Quan-of Freestone, he had caused two Great Stones, which appeared in thisP*ace above Ground only as two Limits or Bounds, the one about a Foot,other about 8 or q Inches, to be further uncover’d, and That they had. ee n found to be 6 Foot High, and about a Foot and a balfFYack ; Marked^ the Figure of the Sepulcher A and L; the Breadth of the one marked A f&. p.

^ Z Foot , and the other marked ti of 2 Foot and a half, set Endways by^ another j and they had further obscrv’d, that it was an Ancient Sepulcher,-**Ut only on z Sides, viz,. at One End, at the Head, by the two Stonesa |teady mention’d , on the Right Side by a Stone placed Edge-ways upon itsl «icknesi of about 14 Incbes, and being above 5 Foot and a half Lang, anda bout 3 Foot Broad, touching in a Right Angle. The Stone marked B at™ e Head j andat the Feet another Stone was set, marked D, of the fame~hicknesi of the precedent, and about 4 Foot Square; ali these Stones were^Qiented together with Mortar made of the Gnalk or Marie taken qut of*ke fame Hole, and mtngsed with iittle Stones or Gravel.

That in this Sepulcher were found the Bones of about 2.0 Bodies ofMen, of the Ordinär j Stature, betyveen 5 Eoot and a half, and 6 Foot, ex-Cept 2 Youthsof about 15 er 16 YearsOld ; all these Bodies lay extendedNorth and South, the Arms along the Bodies, and the Heads all placed^l°ng the two Stones A, B» In the Right Angle there were 2 Bodies Sepa”r atcd from 2 others by the Ston e E, of about a Foot Thick, 4 Foot Broad,

Snd y Foot and s half Long, that lay in rhe manner of a T omb-ßone upon,l ne two Bodies underneath. Ali these Heads had very fair Sound Fceth inl «etn, and the Cranium and other Bones of the Head, were much Stronger^d Thicker than those of ordiuary Heads; which argues them to have®* e n of Strong well Constitution’d Men; amongst them ali there was not3n y Womaris Head.

In prpceeding stili to examine the Sepulcher, we did observe, that at the^*he distance from the SuperBciesof the Earth, aud from those Bodies thus7^ r y’d, there was z Iittle Earthen Vots, of about 4 Inches Diameter, andh^tween 4 and 5 Inches High, of a Black Earth as soft as Wax ; whichJ’OVild not be separated from the other Earth without Breaking them, andj® e piecesbeing come into.theOpen Air turn’d of a Grayish Colour and grew•^rd: These Pois were füll oiWoodCoals and Alkes, which were not much'^min’d.
