part of the Country, wer« all Cut off, and the Works Demoliflfd. SoraeIndiam broughtColl. Bird some Black-Lcad, whereof lie has told me thereia great störe. There’s very curious Talk towards the Falis of RapabanockRiver, which they Burn, and make a Delicate White Waßi of it. The Se-cretary of State, Coli. Spencer , has assur’d me, there were Vttriolkk or A'luminant Eartbs on the Banks of Fotemack.

There are 3. Ibrts of Eagles ; TheLargest I tafee to he that they call the Tue &rds. ■Grey Eagle, being much of the Colour of our Kite or Glead. The Se- p ' ?88 *coni 1 s the Bald- Eagle, for the Body and part of the Neck being of aDarkBrmis», the Upper-part of the Neck and Head is cover’d with a White-fort of Dow», where it looks very Bald, whence it is so Nam’d. The 3 dfort is the Black-Eagle, reftmbling moff the Englifh Eagle : they Build theirNests much aster the mannet that Dr .Wifiougbby describes, and generallyatthe Top of some Tali Old Tree, naked of Boughs and nigh the RiverGde, and the People feli the Tree generally when they take rhe Young,

They are most frequentiy sitting on forne Tali Tree by the River fide, whence they may have a Profpect Up and Down the River, as I suppo so,to obsorve the lißiing-Hawkr, for when they see the Fifliing-Hawk has-struck a Fißj, immediateiy they Take Wing and ’tis sometimes very pleasancto behold the Fight, for when the Fijhing-Hawk perceives her felf pur-siied, (he will Screara and make a Terrible Noise, till at length fhe letfall the Fists to make her own escape, which the Eagle frequently catche 3-before it reach the Eartb or Water. These Eagles kill Young LambiFigi, Lcc.

The Fijlmg-Hawk is an absolute Species of a King's Fißier , but füll asLarge, or Larger than our Jay\ much of the Colour and Shape of & King’sFißotr , tho’ not altogether so curioufiy Feather’d ; it has a Large Crop,as 1 remember, there is a little King’s Ftjhtr much the fame, in every re*fpect with ours.

If I mistake not, I have scen both the Goß-Haivk, and Falco» ; besidrsthere are ftveral sorts of the Lefler Kind of Stanneis.

There is likewise the Kite and the Ringtail.

There’s both a Brovm-Q-wl and a White Oivl, much what as large as aGoofi, which osten Kills their Hens and Poultry in the Night. The White-0 <wl is a very Delicately Feather’d Bird ; all the Feathers upon her Breastand Back being Show- White and Tipp'd with a Punctal of Jet- Black. Bc*sides, there is a Bam-Owl much like ours; and a little sort of Scritch-Owh

There’s both the Raven and Carrion-Cnw.

The Nigbt-Raven which some call the Virginian Eat, is about the Bigneftof a Cuckw, Feather’d like them but very (hört, and fhort Legg’d notDiscernable when it Flies 3 which is only in the Evening, Scudding hke ourNtgbt-Raven.

There’s a Great sort of Ravenottt Eird that feed upon Carrio», as bigvery nigh as an Eagle, which they call a Turky-Bustard, irs Feathers .are ofa Dusksß-Elack, it has Red Gills, resembling those of a Turky, whence ithas its Nara«; it is nothingof the fame fort of Eird with our Englifi Tssrkj-
