Another ingredient, the so-called“ Salpratica,” was sometimes used ingunpowder. Fig. 32 from theMunich Codex gives the followingmethod of preparing it :—

Man hat auch als Bestandteilvon Pulver die sogenannte Salpraticaverwendet. Fig 32 aus dem Mün chener Codex gibt die Bereitungsweisewie folgt :

Si tu désires dusalpêtre rouge, ajoute du cinabre enpoudre, si tu le veux colorer vert,prends du vert-de-gris, mais si tu leveux colorer bleu, prends couleurbleue, le jaune est bon du saffran.”

Un autre corps respondant aunom de “ Salpratica ” était quelquefoisemployé dans la poudre ; la Fig. 32du Codex de Munich nous expliquela façon de l’obtenir :—
