William Alley, 1560, Bilhop of Exeter .After receiving fome part of his education at Eton ,lie removed to King’s, where he took the degree ofBachelor of Arts. He alfo fhidied fome time atOxford; afterwards he married, was prefented to aliving, and became a zealous Reformer. UponQueen Mary’s acceflion, he left his cure, and retiredinto the north of England; where he maintained hiswife and himfelf by teaching a fchool and pradtifingphvfic.. Queen Elizabeth afcending the throne, hewent to London , where he acquired great reputa-tion by reading the Divinity Ledfure at St. Paul's;and in July 1560, was confecrated Bifhop of Exe ter . He was created Dodfor of Divinity in No-vember, 1561. Ele died and was buried in theCathedral of Exeter , in April, 1570.
