X. 1 long since presented the Royal Society with an Experiment of Pre-fervmg Whelps kalten out os rbe Dam’s Worab, and other Fcctus's, or Partsof them, in Spirit of Wme. I have also Open’d Heris Eggs at several Daysaster the Bcginning of the Incubation, and carefully taking out the Embryo’s,Embalmed each of them in a Diftinct Glafs (which is to be carefully Stopt)in Spirit of Wme ; Which I did, that so I might have them in readineß,to make on them, at any time, the Observations, 1 thought them capableof affording. But I must not omit these 2 Circumstances; the One, thatwhen the C kick was grown big, before I rook it out of the Egg, I have, but not constantly, Mingled with the Spirit of Wme, a little Spirit of SaiArmniack, made by the Help of Quick Lime : Which Spirit I chofe, be-cause, though it abounds in a Sah not Sowre but Urtnous , yet I never ob-scrved it (how Strong soever I made it) to Coagulate Spirit of Wine, TheOther Circumstance is, that I usually found it Convenient, to let the littleAnimals, I meant to Imbalmt, lie for a little while in Ordinary Spirit ofWine, toWasll off the Loofer Filth, that is wont to adhere to the Cbick, when taken out of th 0 Egg-, and then, having put either the lame kind ofSpirit, or Better, upon the fame Btrd, I sostered ittoSoak sometime thercin, that the Liquor having Drawn as it were what TinBure it could, the Foetusbeing Removed ineo more Pure and well Dephlegmed Spirit of Wine , mighenot Diseolour it.
