The weft fide of the court, containing thePhilofopher’s, or Bachelor’s School below,and the Phyfic and Law Schools above, wasbuilt at the coft of the Univerfity. Thenorth fide, containing the Divinity Schoolsbelow, and the Regent and Non-RegentHoufes above, by Sir William Thorpe, ofLincolnfhire. The fouth ftde, containing theLogic and Grammar Schools, by LaurenceBooth, Bilhop of Durham , Chancellor of theUniverfity : and the eaft fide, or entrance, byArchbifhop Rotheram.
The Library above, was built and furnilhedby the fame benefadtor, and Tunftall, Bifhopof Durham . Few of the original books arenow to be found: but the Library was greatlyaugmented by King George the Firft, whohaving pujxhafed, for ia,ooo/. a large andvaluable colledtion of books and MSS. madeby Dr. John Moore, Bilhop of Ely, pre-fented them to the Univerfity.
Befide the Colleges defcribed in the follow-ing account, a new one is fhortly to be eredt-ed, in purfuance of the will of Sir George Downing , and to bear his name. This gen-tleman,
